World Environment Day 2012

Environmental pollution is one of the most pressing issues facing humanity today. To raise awareness about this important topic, we observed World Environment Day on 5th June, 2012 with students from all three levels – lower primary, upper primary and high school of Chakalia High School. The World Environment Day program included a variety of activities to promote environmental awareness among students. Participants included students from lower primary, upper primary, and high school levels, as well as teachers and volunteers. The program featured a plantation event, where students and volunteers planted trees. There was also a quiz competition for high school students and an essay competition on global warming for upper primary students. Additionally, lower primary students participated in a drawing competition on the theme “Nature”. A public meeting was held, along with a walking rally, to further raise awareness about environmental issues.

As a special feature of the World Environment Day program, a walking rally was organized with approximately 800 students, who processed up to 3.5 kilometers around the school area. During the rally, students carried play cards and chanted slogans such as Gos gosoni kota bandho korok” and “Prokriti amar matri” to raise awareness about environmental issues. The rally was successful in reaching out to approximately 2000 people during its procession.
