Financial Literacy Camps
NABARD –
Surujmukhi commemorated the foundation day of NABARD by organizing a financial literacy camp at Tiloijan Tea Estate on June 12th, 2016, in collaboration with NABARD and NGO Matri. Esteemed resource persons, including officials from NRLM, BM of AGVB Moran Branch, DDM NABARD, and LDM of Dibrugarh district, graced the event. Over 100 people attended the camp and gained valuable insights. Additionally, 38 savings bank accounts were opened on the spot, with assistance from AGVB Moran Branch. Surujmukhi has also collaborated with NABARD to conduct four Financial Literacy Camps in four villages.
IIFL –
Surujmukhi partnered with the IIFL Foundation and Sukalyan Welfare Society, Kolkata, to launch a Financial Literacy Awareness Programme. The aim is to empower rural housewives and tea garden workers in the Tingkhong and Joypur development block areas of Dibrugarh District. The NGO conducted 14 awareness programs to provide essential financial literacy skills to the targeted population. Thanks to the IIFL Foundation’s funding, Surujmukhi conducted 33 informative sessions this year. Surujmukhi also initiated a financial literacy campaign to bridge the gap between financial institutions and rural communities, organizing six financial literacy camps in different locations during the financial year 2013-2014, including Thowra Tea Estate 9 no. line, Thowra Tea Estate 21 no. line, Dikhari Tea Estate 7 no. line, and Sepon Tea Estate Chawra.
Over 50 programs were organized by Surujmukhi, benefiting over 2000 people who received financial literacy training.
